“I became an optician because of a friend who had a vision problem,” says Ms. Lopez. “I thought, ‘I could make a difference.’ It’s very rewarding to be able to put a pair of glasses on someone to help them see better.”
Ms. Lopez has been a licensed dispensing optician for more than 20 years. For the past ten years, she has been with US Vision, a national optical company, where she serves as the optical manager and regional field coordinator of South Florida. From interpreting prescriptions and creating the perfect pair of lenses to increasing sales to assisting the district manager with special projects, Ms. Lopez has been an instrumental part of the company’s success.
Staying on top of the changes and advances in the optical industry is important to Ms. Lopez so that she may provide her clients with the latest technology and products. She stays current by fulfilling the annual requirements put forth by the state of Florida by enrolling in continuing education and professional development courses. As for her future plans, Ms. Lopez says, “I will keep climbing the corporate ladder.”
