Garden City, NY (PRWEB) May 20, 2014 -- Donna D. Carr-Brown is named an NAPW 2014 Professional Woman of the Year. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in creative arts. Ms. Carr-Brown is a true Renaissance woman, always involved in a variety of projects that promote the arts and social awareness. “For over 25 years I have studied American history, art and dance. My mixed media projects express social concerns, praises social progress or are simply created for the love of the arts," she says.
A fitness director with the Still and Moving Center in Honolulu, Ms. Carr-Brown is also a member of four professional contemporary dance companies: Convergence Dance Theatre; Ginko Marischino; Iona Contemporary Dance Theatre and Wai Company. Ms. Carr-Brown, who has a B.A. in Liberal Arts from the University of Hawaii, is also the Creative Director of StRanGe FrUiT XPrEsS (SFXP), a performance art company she founded in 2004. “I create and design productions for clients that explores social nuances within American society by fusing the disciplines of history, art, dance and activism,” says Ms. Carr-Brown.
In addition to overseeing the creative aspect of every project, Ms. Carr-Brown also handles all administrative details including managing staff, planning logistics and materials and planning meetings and other events. “Be it a profound reflection in history or an apolitical note with comedic flare, SFXP is flexible to meet your creative needs and successfully complete the mission,” she says.
