NaVOBA Honors Best Corporations for Veteran-Owned Businesses for 2014
Pittsburgh, PA (PRWEB) March 25, 2014 -- The National Veteran-Owned Business Association (NaVOBA) today released its annual list http://www.navoba.com/BestCorps2014 honoring the best U.S. corporations for working with veteran-owned businesses in 2014. The prestigious list honors the large corporations that most successfully engage the nation’s more than three million veteran-owned businesses (VOBs) as suppliers.
“Veteran-owned businesses are an important part of our supplier base and we are committed to creating opportunities to help them become successful,” said Craig Hopkins, SVP and Chief Procurement Officer, Global Services Delivery at USAA, one of eight companies that is appearing for the first time.
The cover story of the April 2014 issue of NaVOBA’s Vetrepreneur magazine will feature this year’s honorees. The companies earning this year’s distinction include: Alcatel-Lucent, AT&T, BAE Systems, Battelle Memorial Institute, Booz Allen Hamilton, Comcast NBCUniversal, Dell Corporation, DynCorp International, Express Scripts, Fluor, Hensel Phelps, Johnson & Johnson, JPMorgan Chase, Leidos, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation, Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), PNC Financial Services Group, Rockwell Collins, Sanofi, Shell, UPS, URS, and USAA.
Through NaVOBA’s tireless efforts the number of FORTUNE 1000 companies seeking veteran-owned suppliers has grown by more than 75 percent since 2007. Currently more than 175 of the world’s largest companies maintain programs designed to use VOBs as preferred vendors in their supplier diversity efforts.
The notion that military training is world-class preparation for running a business is reinforced by the fact that one out of every seven businesses in the U.S. is owned by a veteran, according to Census data. That’s twice the national average.
“The corporations on this list know the real value of military training and how those intangible skills also tie into running a successful business,” said NaVOBA President Chris Hale. “We are proud and happy to highlight and honor them.”
