Best Extended Care Facilities in America Announced by Women’s Choice Award®
Ft. Lauderdale, FL (PRWEB) June 17, 2014 -- The Women’s Choice Award is pleased to recognize the long-term care, rehabilitation, and nursing home facilities that have been named as the 2014 America’s Best for Extended Care.
As America faces an increase in life expectancy with one in every four 65-year-olds today living past the age of 90 (Social Security Administration), one-third of all Americans will require long-term care at some time in their lives, with more women than men residing in nursing homes (Illinois Council on Long Term Care). Alarming is the extent of elder abuse and nursing homes cited for federal standard violations (National Center on Elder Abuse). Considering women are responsible for 90 percent of all healthcare choices, as recorded by the American Academy of Family Physicians, making the best choice for extended care for a loved one is critically important. The Women’s Choice Award helps simplify this process by validating the most recommended nursing homes and long-term facilities that provide the highest level of extended care.
The following elite facilities are among America’s Best for Extended Care and carry the Women’s Choice Award seal, signifying their commitment and passion for creating an extraordinary resident experience:
• Atlantic Rehabilitation - Morristown, NJ
• Fellowship Manor – Whitehall, PA
• Friendship Manor – Rock Island, IL
• Harmony Manor Skilled Nursing Facility – Winnemucca, NV
• Hughes Health And Rehabilitation - West Hartford, CT
• Marywood Nursing Care Center – Livonia, MI
• Wellsprings of Gilbert – Gilbert, AZ
“Women are taking more control of the decision making process when it comes to selecting healthcare providers and extended care facilities,” says Delia Passi, CEO & Founder of WomenCertified Inc., home of the Women’s Choice Award. “Making quick decisions goes against her grain and women are seeking more information than ever before when making long-term care selections. Our mission is to reduce the risk for women and their families so they can make smarter extended care choices.”
The Women’s Choice Award is the only distinction that identifies the nation’s best long-term care institutions based on robust criteria that considers resident and patient satisfaction, clinical excellence, and what women really want for themselves and their family members when it comes to treatment and a quality experience.
“Clearly, women appreciate learning from the experiences of others, as they take more time to identify the best extended care facilities and seek validation in their choices,” says Passi. “We have found that recommendations are the single most important consideration used by women in selecting a long-term care facility for themselves and their family,” added Passi.
The Extended Care award was given to those facilities that have 25 or more residents, and have received at least 19 combined stars in the four categories in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMA) five-star rating system. The CMS rating categories are for general and RN staffing, quality rating and inspection survey rating. Recipients must also have Medicare certification, full sprinkler systems and no recent history of penalties or fines. Only 400 facilities were awarded out of over 15,000 across the nation.
