Rebirth of Detroit - Iconic Music Venue, Magic Stick, Closes to Reopen as POPULUX Inside The Majestic Complex
Detroit, MI (PRWEB) March 10, 2015 -- Iconic downtown Detroit music venue, Magic Stick, closes to be completely renovated and reopen under the name, POPULUX, a paradigm shifting modern rebirth of The Majestic entertainment complex. With over 35 years of experience as purveyor of successful music venues, entertainment entrepreneur and Detroit devotee, Amir Daiza, once again invests heavily in Detroit’s historic music scene in this latest venture, POPULUX.
“The word POPULUX derives from the retro-futurism of design and arts, so we’ve branded the venue, POPULUX,” said Amir Daiza, entrepreneur and investor. “A rebirth of the word, much like the rebirth of Detroit, the rebirth of the Majestic Complex and the rebirth of the Detroit techno sound that has influenced the direction of music around the world.”
Daiza, who for the past 30 years has been a trailblazing industry entrepreneur and investor, touting ownership of a laundry list of iconic venues and businesses including St. Andrew’s Hall/The Shelter (Richie Hawtin, Ghostly International, Eminem), Clutch Cargo’s - a multi-genre concert venue, Industry and the current premiere EDM venue, ELEKTRICITY which has played host to an array of electronic heavyweights such as Calvin Harris, Diplo, Zedd, John Acquaviva, Paul Oakenfold, Kevin Saunderson and that’s just a start. Daiza also had a hand in developing the first Detroit Electronic Music Festival (D.E.M.F.) and was a professional consultant on launching the first Movement Festival in 2006.
"Over the past 20 years, I have seen the success of Amir Daiza in the Detroit music scene first hand. Amir has had a big influence in helping launch first Movement Electronic Music Festival I put together as well assisted prompting other Paxahau events,” Jason Huvaere.
Now add the soon to be open, POPULUX to this historic list. According to Daiza, The Past is the Future at POPULUX! By fusing Detroit’s techno roots with the city’s hotter than ever music scene, POPULUX will yield a unique brand of techno and house music, blended with that sweet Motown sound and soul.
Showing his support, arguably the originator of Techno, Kevin Saunderson, "I have known Amir Daiza for over 25 years since he promoted my first project "Inner City" in Detroit. I have watched him support countless Detroit Techno artists over the years. Amir is definitely an influencer in regards to the Detroit Techno scene, from the evolution to its current time. He has always had his finger on the pulse of Detroit Techno movements. I am very excited for the new downtown Detroit venue opening and looking forward to being involved as much as I can!”
This next chapter of The Majestic Complex in downtown Detroit is scheduled to open mid-April. The venue will breath new life into the city through reinvesting in Detroit’s rich, historic music culture bringing people back downtown, a big step towards revitalization.
The release of the song “Rebirth of a City” by YOS & A Guy Called Amir on the Obsession Detroit record label, also founded by Daiza will coincide with the opening. Amir recently started his philanthropic musical performance journey as A Guy Called Amir.
"I have been promoting events with Amir Daiza for over 25 years. We have had a great relationship promoting local, national and international artists. It only seemed a matter of time before our success and relationship took off to reimagine The Majestic Complex in a modern, innovative way,” says Dave Zainea, co-owner of the Majestic Theatre Center.
There is also a charitable aspect as all proceeds from A Guy Called Amir merchandise will be donated to Bridges for Music: a non-profit charity that will enhance opportunities to earn a better life and inspire younger generations through music.
