Shoptagr Identifies Key Online Shopping Behaviors and Average Discount Rates This Holiday Season 2014

The fashion bargain hunting tool, which allows consumers to track fashion items down to size/color and receive price drop alerts, has collected the following data to measure shopping behavior during this holiday season, period November-December 2014 (data are solely based on Shoptagr's user-base).

New York women love a great deal!

Shoptagr has accumulated some very interesting data from its users this holiday season in order to learn from their shopping habits. Shoptagr.com has been tracking more than 850.000 fashion items from 452 leading online retailers including Bloomingdales, ASOS, Barneys, and Macy's.

Data Highlights:

  • New York Ladies love shopping for bargains online (More than any other US city).
  • Most online transactions based on Shoptagr’s Sale Alerts are done on Monday mornings.
  • Nordstrom.com is the most popular retailer among Shoptagr's bargain hunters.
  • Most purchased items on sale are Shoes and the most popular color of this Shopping Season is black.
  • Average discount rate was 43.6% while some fashion items were sold at 85% discount.
  • Most of Shoptagr's Users who have tracked an item – react to 50% or above discount Sale Alerts in less than 1 hour, with fastest shoppers reacting in less than 30 seconds.
  • Ladies above 40 usually only buy one single item per online shopping session (in the same store) but spend more than twice as much per shopping basket.
  • Black Friday remains the best day to get a good deal.
