A new episode of "In America" provides consumer insight into the status and growth of automotive care and maintenance... a vital component of the American economy.
The automotive care and maintenance market currently exceeds $80 billion and supports more than 160,000. The franchise component of the industry is a rapidly growing segment and is itself more than $18 billion, employing more than 137,000 people.
This important segment of the American economy is the subject of a new segment of "In America," hosted by James Earl Jones. This program reviews the current trends and technologies that make our cars more complex and reliable, while transforming the traditional approach to automotive maintenance and care.
While any care with more than 50,000 miles was considered worn out less than a generation ago, it is common for today's vehicles to be on the road for 150,000 miles or more without major repairs. However, this program includes interviews with industry professionals and leaders who explain why quality maintenance is more important than ever.
Additional insights include explaining both near-term and long-term changes in the reliability of new autos and how these trends will change the current marketplace. The goal of the program is to provide consumers with important insights into the significant investment they make when purchasing a vehicle today.
