MedVet Expands Services to the Alabama and Mississippi Gulf Coasts
Columbus Ohio (PRWEB) January 09, 2015 -- MedVet Medical & Cancer Center for Pets is pleased to announce its expansion into the Gulf Coast of Alabama and eastern Mississippi with the addition of The Animal Emergency and Referral Center of Mobile to its network of medical centers. MedVet will develop this established emergency practice into a full-service specialty and emergency medical center, and immediately add a comprehensive array of MedVet surgical services. The medical center has been renamed MedVet Mobile.
“We are very excited to be expanding along the Gulf Coast and into the Mobile community,” said MedVet President Dr. Eric Schertel. “For the past three years, MedVet Louisiana, with facilities in New Orleans and Mandeville, have been the closest specialty and emergency referral hospitals in the area. With the addition of the Mobile practice, referral partners will now have an alternative that may be more convenient for them and their patients along the Gulf Coast region. We look forward to working with them to deliver exceptional patient care and client services.”
Dr. Brian Bufkin, a board certified surgeon and most recently the lead surgeon at the Mandeville facility, will assume leadership of MedVet Mobile’s surgical services. Dr. Bufkin grew up in Mississippi, obtained his DVM at Mississippi State and did an internship at Auburn University. Board certified surgeon Dr. Jude Bordelon will fill Dr. Bufkin’s position in Mandeville. He has worked as a surgeon in both MedVet Louisiana locations.
Dr. Christopher Mau, managing partner of The Animal Emergency and Referral Center of Mobile, explored a number of options before choosing MedVet to develop a specialty and emergency hospital for Mobile and the surrounding areas. “We built this practice with our referral partners over the last six years and understand its importance to Mobile and the surrounding communities,” Dr. Mau said. “After seeing first-hand the caliber of patient care and referral services MedVet offers, I know that it is the most qualified organization to take over the reins of this practice. I have the utmost confidence that MedVet Mobile will thrive and continue its commitment to delivering the highest quality, most compassionate specialty and emergency veterinary care.”
MedVet will initially focus on ensuring an exemplary 24-hour emergency and surgical referral experience. In the coming months, MedVet Mobile will expand its specialty services into areas that include anesthesiology, cardiology, dermatology, integrative medicine, internal medicine, interventional radiology, medical and radiation oncology, neurology, ophthalmology, and rehabilitative services.
In addition to Mobile, MedVet operates a network of seven medical centers in Ohio, Louisiana, and Kentucky, delivering the highest quality and most compassionate specialty and emergency veterinary care.
