Professional Dance Instructors Hold Workshops During 'Galena Goes 50s'
Galena, IL (PRWEB) January 07, 2015 -- You don't have to be from the era to have a blast when Galena Goes 50s this Feb. 27-28. Get your swing warmed up starting Fri., Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. with live music by The Old 57s at the Galena Brewing Company. They play #1 hits from the 50s. Their true-to-the-era image stems from their use of vintage amps and guitars, a flashy upright bass, and the old style Shure 55 microphones. Be wowed by their wardrobe, dialog, classic vocal effects, light show, and very high energy performance.
Workshops being offered by professional dance instructors begin Sat., Feb. 28 at Turner Hall and are $15. Register online at http://www.GalenaSwingDance.com. Join Adam Kieffer, Jennifer Mulcahey and Ian Hathway as they guide participants through the jitterbug, lindy hop and salsa.
Adam Kieffer is a certified professional dance competitor and instructor by the National Dance Council of America. Jennifer Mulcahey is a professional ballroom dance instructor with 20 years of experience and has owned The Ballroom by Jennifer Dance Studio in Dubuque IA for the past 4 years. Ian Hathway started dancing while living in Brazil in 2006, and was introduced to Lindy Hop at St. Olaf College.
Workshop attendees are invited to put their new dance moves to the test at the Sock Hop Sat. night at Turner Hall, featuring The Fast Clydes at 7 p.m. When not on the dance floor, guests can play games, win prizes, enter the 50/50 raffle and enjoy snacks and drinks.
