It's much more fun to go down the Yellow Brick Road with a bunch of friends to cheer you on!

Dorothy had her ruby slippers. Fabulous@50 Victoria is asking baby boomer women, "How will you step into your dreams in 2015?" by partnering with Shoe Straponz, a shoe accessory company, to host an event that will inspire women use a shoe accessory as a tool to dream.

This is the first event hosted by Annie Pool, the Director for Fabulous@50 in Victoria. Fabulous@50 is the network that celebrates baby boomer women (roughly age 40-60) which was founded in Edmonton by Dianna Bowes. Victoria is the second community to benefit from this unique organization (a third was recently launched by JoAnna Neweduk in Calgary).

Annie will be offering a variety of inspiring and educational events and opportunities for women in 2015. The first of these is The 1st Fabulous@50 Martini Party hosted at The Delta Ocean Pointe Hotel in the LURE Lounge on Sunday, January 25 at 1:00 pm. Besides the chance to meet and network with other women, the event will include a special guest appearance by Founder, Dianna Bowes, a free Fabulous@50 Martini and appetizer, an interactive mini fashion show, door prizes and much more.

Fabulous@50 has partnered with Shoe Straponz, the innovative Victoria based company that founded a brand new shoe accessory for women. Together they will be inviting baby boomer women to step into their dreams in 2015 with a mini Shoe Straponz Fashion Show and the opportunity for women to answer the question, "Where will you strap on yours in 2015?" Founder of Shoe Straponz, Sarah Pool developed the shoe accessory as a way to empower women to follow their dreams all over the world with a simple accessory that transforms a pair of heels into a bold fashion statement.

Participants will have the opportunity to try on the shoe accessory and will be eligible for several door prizes as well as The Fabulous@50 Grand Prize which includes an inside out makeover valued at over $1000.00. The Grand Prize winner will receive 4 hours of powerful coaching with Life Transitions Coach, Sue Maitland, a complete hair and makeup makeover from The Arq Salon, a professional photo shoot with Melissa Welsh, and much more.

Proceeds from Victoria's 1st Fabulous@50 Martini Experience will go to The Project Forgive Foundation, a documentary film and non-partisan educational organization founded by Shawne Duperon which has been endorsed by Archbishop Desmond Tutu. The organization provides a deep inquiry to the questions about the meaning of forgiveness.

Annie Pool took on the directorship for Fabulous@50 after she overcame an incurable cancer diagnosis in 2014. Her desire now is to inspire and empower women like herself so that they can live their best lives in their fifties and beyond. "Women in their fifties are doing things they have been dreaming about but have been putting off for a long time," says Annie. "And they need support. It's much more fun to go down the Yellow Brick Road with a group of friends to cheer you on."

Annie Pool will host the largest event in September 2015, The Fabulous@50 Experience and Martini Party, a fashion/trade show with entertainment and motivational speakers. Fabulous @50 also gives back to the community through a number of charitable events.

Fabulous@50 has grown into a community of 450 members and a following of over 3,000 women. It has a bi-monthly newsletter and the Be Fabulous! Magazine, published twice yearly and holds dozens of events annually. There have been six major trade shows in Edmonton, and last year, for the first time, shows in Grande Prairie and Red Deer, Alberta. For more information, visit http://www.fabulousat50.com.
