California Winemakers Headlining at Florida Wine Event
(PRWEB) January 07, 2015 -- Get a behind-the-scenes look at a season in a California vineyard, hear Santa Barbara County growers talk about their struggles and taste their wines. Pay homage to the Cheeseburger in Paradise by voting for your favorite wine and burger pairing. Enjoy a sunset dockside tasting of limited production California wines and mingle with the winemakers.
Wine lovers are invited to enrich their experience at the Key West Food and Wine Festival this month with these and other unique events curated by Central Coast Wine & Food.
These include dinners, brunches and educational seminars at iconic locations and highlight the weeklong festival, where wine lovers from around the country descend on the southernmost island of the Florida Keys for food- and wine-focused events.
“The festival attracts over 3,500 people from 38 states,” said Mark Certonio, Director of the Key West Food and Wine Festival. “It’s simply a great time for people to come down and enjoy the tropical weather.”
One of the unique events showcasing wines from California is VINTAGE 2014: a wine & film pairing at the historic Tropic Cinema. The event offers a full sensory experience, combining a series of three short films that document the most recent wine grape growing season with live wine tasting intermissions. The multimedia project was an official selection of the 2014 Key West Film Festival.
Several winemakers and other personalities featured in the films will be at the events throughout the weekend to share their wines and interact with festival goers.
• Dick Doré, Founder, Foxen Winery
• Jonathan Nagy, Winemaker, Byron Winery
• Laura Booras, General Manager, Riverbench Vineyard and Winery
• Karen Steinwachs, Winemaker, Buttonwood Farm Vineyard and Winery
“We piloted an event series at the festival last year,” said Wil Fernandez of Central Coast Wine & Food. “We’re very excited to be back with a larger group of rock star winemakers from this amazing wine growing region.”
