FMB Partners to bring Panasonic Avionics Corporation Location Aware Services to APEX
Kirkland, Washington (PRWEB) January 06, 2015 -- FUNKYMUNKYBIZ, LLC., DBA FMB Consulting Alliance, a privately held Kirkland, Washington company announced its partnership with BLEacon™ Technologies to bring Panasonic Avionics Corporation several location aware services (LAS) demonstrations to the Airline Passenger Experience Association annual APEX expo, held September 15th-18th in Anaheim.
“This strategic partnership with BLEacon allowed us to rapidly provision, deploy and manage several demonstrations for hundreds of attendees,“ says Craig Hummel, FMB Founder. “Unlike many commercial product launches, the APEX event dates weren’t going to change so we had to execute. By bringing FMB’s product design and development resources together with the BLEacon offering we were able to go from design to delivery in ten weeks.”
“We are always looking at how technology can enhance the travel experience,” says Steve Sizelove, Corporate Strategic Innovation at Panasonic Avionics Corporation. “The combination of FMB’s team and the BLEacon platform brought our ideas to life in a meaningful way.”
The scope of the demonstrations was designed to offer personalized experiences for attendees while giving meaningful insight to Panasonic Avionics Corporation.
Utilizing Bluetooth Smart and BLEacon’s support for off the shelf hardware and distributed wireless network architecture, attendees were issued a wearable device based on TI’s SensorTag™ development kit. The device was provisioned with personalized information such as the attendees name, employer, favorite city and beverage of choice.
The registration kiosk, automated drink ordering and delivery system, booth and attendee traffic flow, the immersive “Cool Room” and Smart Seat were just some of the location aware services demonstrated. Other supported concepts included a smart display rewards program and an interactive “smart bar”.
The Internet of Things, which many predict will reach over 25 billion units by 2020, is driving new innovations and opportunities that extend well beyond smartphones, tablet and PC’s and is expected to have a significant presence at the International Consumer Electronics Show, held January 6th-9th in Las Vegas.
“This was a great opportunity for validation,” says Ron Dicklin, BLEacon co-Founder and CTO. “It proved BLEacon is a valid communications and device management system for the rapidly evolving Internet of Things. Whether you are developing a connected sensor, iBeacon, location aware system, or other connected device, network connectivity and cloud implementation is paramount. BLEacon significantly reduces costs and the development time needed to deploy and manage these connected devices.”
“This was a very successful program for FMB and a successful validation for BLEacon,” says Hummel. “The results have led us to a strategic relationship which included joining forces.”
