SIGVARIS Joins Forces with Robyn Bjork of the International Lymphedema & Wound Care Training Institute to Improve Patient Care
PEACHTREE CITY, GA (PRWEB) January 07, 2015 -- One of SIGVARIS’ missions is to improve the quality of life for patients with circulatory issues, those initially complaining of tired, achy legs, and for those with what is known by physicians as chronic venous insufficiency (CVI).
That’s why in 2015, SIGVARIS in the United States is excited to enlist the expertise of Robyn Bjork, from the International Lymphedema & Wound Care Training Institute, to help support innovation for patients with lymphedema, CVI and venous ulcers.
“I’m thrilled to be partnering with SIGVARIS and to share my insights and experience with patients who live daily with lymphedema,” says Bjork. “Together, I hope we can develop the most innovative products for those who suffer from lymphedema and are in need of wound care.”
Bjork is a physical therapist who is an expert in the field of wound care and lymphedema management. She teaches both nationally and internationally on topics related to wound care, edema and lymphedema management and has more than 15 years’ experience in the field. She is also a co-founder and president of an international medical mission organization, ILWTI Medical Missions.
In 2011, Bjork received a certificate of special congressional recognition in appreciation for excellence in medicine, and recently, the World Health Organization asked her to write a chapter in their publication on wound care and lymphedema management. She is certified through the National Alliance of Wound Care, the American Board of Wound Management, Lymphology Association of North America, and is the new secretariat of the World Alliance of Wound and Lymphedema Care.
“We have already learned so much from the conversations and trainings we have had with Robyn Bjork,” says Scot J. Dubé, President and CEO of SIGVARIS North America. “Her insights are going to help us create new ways to care for patients and help improve the quality of life for many patients worldwide. Robyn’s ability to coach and train our internal teams and customers brings a new dimension to SIGVARIS and helps us enhance the value proposition of our products and services.”
