Piedmont CA Real Estate Agent Broker Anian Tunney Explains How CAR December 2014 Survey Results Shows Vital Role of Boomers in California Real Estate Market
Piedmont, CA (PRWEB) January 09, 2015 -- In its “2014 Baby Boomer Survey” conducted in September the California Association of Realtors® (CAR) quantified the role Baby Boomers still play in the housing market. CAR released(1) the survey results late last month; overall, regardless of financial situation, Boomers (homeowners and renters alike) believe home ownership is the preferable option.
“That almost half of the current Boomer renters formerly owned, and plan to own again, is incredibly insightful,” noted Anian Tunney, a real estate agent broker in Piedmont, CA. “This is a generation that appreciates the financial and social stability associated with home ownership.” In fact, 22% of the Boomer renters surveyed expect to purchase within the next five years.
The survey estimates that three in ten Boomers live with their children; the vast majority of those had their children move back in with them, or never leave. “While many Boomers weathered the financial crisis fairly well, their children tended to be hard hit. In real estate, we see this contributing to the increase in popularity of multi-generational households,” explained Tunney.
Piedmont, a historic high-end city in the San Francisco Bay Area, “was built at a time when multi-generation homes were much more common,” Tunney noted. While many would classify the houses for sale in Piedmont as “estates” instead of homes, including 6 King Avenue – offered at $4,200,000, they have the room necessary to accommodate parents, adult children, and grandchildren comfortably.
Tunney commented that, “CAR’s Baby Boomer survey shows that this generation is still extremely key to the real estate market. Boomers are in their prime earning years, have come out of the financial crisis in better shape than subsequent generations, and believe in the merits of home ownership.”
