Morgan Pressel, LPGA Superstars, and St. Andrews Boca Raton Surpass $4 Million Mark to Fight Breast Cancer
Boca Raton, Florida (PRWEB) January 09, 2015 -- In its 8th year the Morgan & Friends Fight Cancer Golf Tournament hosted by Pressel, fellow LPGA superstars and the members of St. Andrews Country Club raised a record $751,622, surpassing $4 million total to further the fight against breast cancer through early detection and testing. These funds have been raised entirely through the generosity of St. Andrews CC members and various sponsors of the Morgan Pressel Foundation since 2007. Pressel is a current LPGA star and is the Resident Touring Professional at St. Andrews CC.
This year the LPGA Tour stars included the largest field ever with Pressel, Annika Sorenstam, Jessica Korda, Paula Creamer, Cristie Kerr, Gerina Piller, Brittany Lincicome and Lexi Thompson teaming together to make this year the most successful fundraiser yet during the two-day event presented by the Morgan Pressel Foundation Committee.
The generosity of St. Andrews Country Club members, sponsors and donors raise more funds year over year for the Morgan Pressel Foundation and 2015 was no exception. The foundation supports Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, as well as the Morgan Pressel Center for Cancer Genetics and the Kathryn Krickstein Pressel Mammovan at Boca Raton Regional Hospital. The completely digital mammovan travels throughout south Florida, Florida providing affordable and convenient access to mammography equipment as well as clinical breast exams and breast health education.
Pressel said, “Topping $4 million dollars in just eight years is a huge milestone and makes such a difference in the fight against breast cancer in our community. The support of my fellow St. Andrews members, numerous LPGA and PGA stars and event sponsors have made the Morgan & Friends Fight Cancer Tournament more successful each year.” Pressel credits the Morgan Pressel Foundation committee for creating another outstanding event along with the professional staff at St. Andrews CC. “There simply aren’t enough ways to say how thankful I am to St. Andrews members, and for my friends Annika, Jessica, Paula, Cristie, Gerina, Brittany and Lexi who offered their time and participation to help make this year’s event a record fundraiser.”
The Unexpected Boys had the audience on their feet during the Sunday evening festivities which included an exclusive cocktail reception, dinner and silent and live auctions. On Monday, winning bidders played 9 holes with one of eight LPGA stars and enjoyed an exclusive golf clinic hosted by Pressel & her friends, entertaining more than 175 club members with personal anecdotes about their careers.
