Motion Computing® and Radius Networks Unveil Location-based Checkout and Other Proximity-driven Engagement Experiences at NRF’s The BIG Show 2015
New York, NY (PRWEB) January 10, 2015 -- Motion Computing® collaborated with Intel® and Radius Networks to design and implement proximity-driven marketing capabilities. Powered the Intel® Core™ processor family and superior wireless performance capabilities, Motion Computing’s POS tablets enable customer service representatives (CSR) to turn a “Point of Sale” into a “Point of Service” anywhere in the retail store using retailers’ existing software infrastructure and tools that power their existing omni-channel experiences. iBeacon™ and AltBeacon™ technology provided by Radius Network’s RadBeacon Bluetooth SmartTM proximity beacons extend the omni-channel experience to each customer through their mobile device. Customer service representatives know who each customer is and their individual preferences upon store entrance thanks to feedback provided by shoppers when they opt-in to the beacon-guided experience. Customers, using the retailer’s app on their iOS or Android devices, are connected to the customer service representative’s tablet, enabling the CSR to help shoppers expedite pick-up of pre-ordered goods, gather more detailed information about products and services, and reduce check-out times. The full, personalized service experience is showcased in the Intel booth (#2543) at NRF’s The BIG Show 2015 starting on January 11, 2015.
The location-based interactions created by Motion Computing and Radius Networks prime the retail industry with the capability to do more than just send coupons and deals to customers in-store. New capabilities are now possible – such as wallet-less checkouts via the shoppers’ app credentials. Location-based marketing tools can also be added to existing retail IT infrastructure and tied into current business information systems. Motion Computing’s tablet PCs support most retailers’ front-of-store and back-office applications, eliminating the need to replace devices every time they want to introduce a new experience such as this.
With the addition of Radius Networks’ RadBeacon proximity beacons with iBeacon™ and AltBeacon™ technology, in combination with Radius Networks’ developer tools, the retail management, employee, and customer experience become more efficient, informative, and engaging. The beacons and developer tools can additionally be used by app developers to create a wide range of innovative retail environment solutions, such as indoor navigation, improved parking solutions, enhanced ticketing, and location-relevant offers and promotions.
"Our collaboration with Motion Computing and Radius Networks demonstrates how Intel-powered tablets can help the retail industry deliver better experience and more efficient services to its customers," said Joe Jensen, general manager, Retail Solutions Division, Intel. "At NRF's The Big Show 2015, Intel will be showcasing proximity beacon-driven experiences by Motion Computing and Radius Networks. This will allow leaders in the retail industry to personally experience the performance of Intel-powered tablets across commercial and consumer applications."
“Motion Computing delivers mobility into retail with retail-hardened tablets than run the most common POS and back-office software. We leverage retailers’ existing IT infrastructure, accessories and credit card readers to allow exciting technologies like proximity services – including the Bluetooth beacons provided by Radius Networks – to be added quickly without the need for retailers to switch to other computing platforms,” said Peter Poulin, CEO, Motion Computing.
“Not only is Intel the world leader in computing innovation, they are leaders in the implementation of new and innovative technologies,” said Marc Wallace, CEO and Co-Founder of Radius Networks. “We are excited to partner with Intel and Motion Computing to use proximity beacon technology to bring new and improved applications that add value to the retail industry.”
