Celebrate Change a Pet’s Life Day with 1-800-PetMeds®
Pompano Beach, Fla. (PRWEB) January 13, 2015 -- 1-800-PetMeds®, America’s Largest Pet Pharmacy®, is celebrating Change a Pet’s Life Day on January 24, 2015, by sponsoring the medical treatments and adoptions of several adoptable pets. The contest, which started January 9, 2015, will be open to entries from U.S. animal shelters and rescue groups through January 15, 2015.
Animal rescue groups will enter one adoptable pet in need of surgery or extensive medical treatment into the contest. Examples of treatments needed include, but are not limited to, hip or knee surgery, eye enucleation and heartworm treatment.
To enter an adoptable pet into the contest, a representative from the animal rescue group must visit the contest webpage and fill out the entry form, including the following: pet’s photo, a brief background on the pet’s history and the medical treatments needed, contact information for the attending veterinarian, and contact information for the rescue group. Only one pet from each animal rescue group may be entered.
The entry submission period will close at 11:59 p.m. ET on January 15, 2015, at which point the contest will open to voting. Anyone 18 and older is eligible to vote once per day until voting closes on January 22, 2015, at 12:00 a.m. ET. The winners will be announced January 22, 2015, and the three groups and pets with the most votes will win prizes.
The grand prize of the contest includes up to $2,000 towards the winning pet’s medical treatments and/or surgery, as well as inclusion in a video for the 1-800-PetMeds® website of the pet and rescue group. The second place prize consists of the payment of five adoption fees for the second place group, to give five pets a better chance at getting adopted. The third place prize is $250 towards the third-place pet’s medical treatments and/or surgery. The first and third-place prizes will be distributed to the pets’ attending veterinarians and animal hospitals to pay for medical treatments and surgeries.
“In recognition of Change a Pet’s Life Day, we want to make a difference in the lives of a few adoptable pets while helping hard-working animal shelters and rescue groups,” said Alex Irvin, online programs director at 1-800-PetMeds. “Medical treatment can be an overwhelming cost for a rescue, and we hope this contest helps a few deserving pets get the treatments they need to live happy, healthy lives, hopefully in forever homes."
1-800-PetMeds® is requesting all entries be completed by rescue group representatives and all pets be entered with the groups’ permission. This contest is limited to U.S. animal rescue groups and animal shelters. Pet lovers are encouraged to reach out to their favorite groups and urge them to enter, and then vote for the pet to win.
