Fort Lauderdale, FL/Ellenville, NY (PRWEB) January 11, 2015 -- The Catskill Resort Museum will present a night of comedy with Richard Lewis (“Curb Your Enthusiasm”) and Kevin Pollak (“A Few Good Men”) at 8 p.m. on Friday, February 27, 2015 at the Parker Playhouse in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Ticket prices begin at $75 and can be purchased by calling the Parker Playhouse box office at 954.462.0222 or online at http://www.parkerplayhouse.com.
“Over the last few years, my board and I have been working tirelessly to bring our vision for the Catskill Resort Museum to life,” said Jack Godfrey, President of the Board of Directors for the museum. “Richard Lewis and Kevin Pollak emulate the humor and talent that once marked the Catskill resort era. The legendary comedians who performed on stage and on screen during that era will be honored in the museum’s comedy hall of fame. We have tasked ourselves with creating a nonprofit in an area that has experienced severe economic hardships and is eager for its own rebirth. We are determined and hopeful that our efforts will rejuvenate the Catskills.”
With efforts to reach people of all ages and backgrounds, the future museum will be an interactive, multi-media experience. The museum will include a small theater, Comedy Hall of Fame, exhibition center, and a gift shop. The museum will feature personal stories, profiles and educational events, fostering intergenerational dialog and insight to the Catskill’s broad impact.
Lewis has been recognized by Comedy Central as one of the top 50 stand-up comedians. In addition to his career in stand-up comedy, Lewis has appeared in television series and feature films, including “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” “Anything But Love,” “Leaving Las Vegas”, and “Squirrels to the Nuts.” His passion for comedy has set him on a continuous stand-up tour, taking him to venues like Carnegie Hall with a standing room only audience, and now to Parker Playhouse to support the vision of the Catskill Resort Museum.
Pollak, best known for his role in “A Few Good Men,” began his career as a stand-up comedian at the young age of 10 and began touring professionally by age 20. Having made a name for himself as a comedian, Pollak was offered a role the Ron Howard film, “Willow,” produced by George Lucas. Since the start of his dramatic acting career in 1989, Pollak has starred alongside icons such as Jack Nicholson, Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Kevin Spacey. Pollak has found success in comedy, film, literature, and as a talk-show host; he has been recognized as one of Variety’s top 10 hardest working film actors and Comedy Central’s top 100 comedians of all time.
Both Lewis and Pollak will indulge the Fort Lauderdale audience with a night of side-splitting laughs, audacious wordsmanship, and possibly tears, while working to raise money to fund the goals of the Catskill Resort Museum. Tickets for the event are available online or by calling the Parker Playhouse box office at 954.462.0222.
