High School Student Creates Project to Upgrade Theater Lighting
Durham, NC (PRWEB) January 12, 2015 -- Ian MacIntyre, a student at Cresset Christian Academy has created a project to upgrade the theatrical lighting system at his school. The new lighting system will be debuted at the spring performance of Mary Poppins in May of 2015. Ian is an Eagle Scout candidate who will be working collaboratively with other members of Boy Scout troop 39 as well as students in the theater department at the school to complete the installation. Ian is currently seeking sponsors and donors to make this project a reality.
Ian MacIntyre said "The idea first came to mind when I was watching the spring play in 2014 and there was a lighting failure while they were performing. I felt like the students work too hard to not have the resources they need to excel on stage. This upgrade will allow dynamic, dramatic lighting with the limited power that is available in the performance space".
The award winning theater department under Frank Zedick, Theater Production Director and Stephanie Smith, Theater Education Director, has won numerous awards including most recently one from the North Carolina Theater Conference during the 2013/2014 school year. This lighting project is a green power project. The amount of electricity consumed by the new lighting fixtures will be about one-tenth of the power used before. Completing this project will truly help the school and its students serve their community.
