William Mattar and Amanda Hansen Foundation Join to Distribute No-Cost CO Detectors
Buffalo, NY (PRWEB) January 13, 2015 -- William Mattar of William Mattar, P.C. and Ken Hansen of the Amanda Hansen Foundation will distribute free carbon monoxide detectors to the community at Tops Friendly Markets on South Transit Rd. in Lockport on Sunday, January 18. Detectors will be available starting at 10am and the distribution will continue while supplies last, one detector per household.
Carbon monoxide is often referred to as “the silent killer” because it is a colorless, odorless poisonous gas that can cause illness and even death without victims ever knowing they are being exposed. Carbon monoxide detectors are a crucial defense against this danger.
About The Amanda Hansen Foundation
The Amanda Hansen Foundation was established in September 2010 in memory of 16-year-old Amanda Hansen who passed away in January 2009 from carbon monoxide poisoning. With the goal of raising awareness of the dangers of carbon monoxide in the home, the foundation holds many fundraisers and has given out thousands of CO detectors to local residents. They are currently seeking community support to help them continue to carry out this important mission.
Six months after Amanda's death, "Amanda's Law" was passed in New York State, requiring all homes to have at least one CO detector. For more information, visit http://www.amandahansen.org.
