Aria Health Honors its Exceptional Registered Nurses with The DAISY Award
Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) January 14, 2015 -- To honor its outstanding Registered Nurses (RN), Aria Health, the largest healthcare provider in Northeast Philadelphia and Lower Bucks County, today announced it is participating in The DAISY Award — a nationwide nurse recognition program run by The DAISY Foundation. This monthly award will recognize one Aria Health RN who fellow nurses, physicians, patients, families, and team members believe to be an exceptional role model. The first recipient of the Aria Health Daisy Award is Anthony Farano, BSN, RN, for his exceptional clinical skills, as well as his tireless dedication to and compassion for his patients.
Since 2006, Farano has held many roles at Aria Health. While studying Nursing at Holy Family University, he began his career at Aria as an orderly and then became a Certified Nurse Assistant. Upon graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing and passing his boards in 2009, Farano became a Registered Nurse at the Torresdale Campus’ 2A Telemetry Unit. He later transitioned to the HRT Unit, a cardiac-intensive care unit specializing in cardiac surgery, where he continued to expand his clinical skills.
“Anthony takes the time to get know all of his patients and their families, and is often described by them as caring and professional, going above and beyond for his co-workers as well, always making extra time for anyone in need,” said Farano’s supervisor, Kimberly Callahan, nurse manager 2A/HRT/Central Monitoring. “His clinical skills are matched only by his dedication and compassion. He is a true patient advocate and an excellent choice for the winner of Aria Health’s first DAISY Award.”
In memory of J. Patrick Barnes, The DAISY Award was founded to honor the work nurses do for patients and their families each day. Roughly 1,790 healthcare organizations worldwide participate in the program, and the award is tailored to each participating hospital’s unique culture and values. Every month, Aria Health employees, volunteers, patients, families, and visitors are able to nominate a Registered Nurse for The DAISY Award. Nominations received by the 15th of the month will be considered for the following month’s award.
