Jerry’s Artarama Hosts 3rd Annual Self Portrait Contest

Jerry’s Artarama, a national art supplier, announces their third annual Self Portrait Contest offering prizes of $4000.

We’ve had more artists send in some of the most creative portraits we’ve ever seen and are excited to see people enter the contest, win some great prizes and express themselves in our favorite event of the year.

Jerry’s Artarama, the nations premier retailer of art supplies and materials is now hosting its third annual self portrait contest after the continued success over the last two years. Last year, over eleven hundred self portraits were entered into the contest with expected growth this year.

This year, Jerry’s is offering a grand prize of a $2000 shopping spree on Jerrysartarama.com (in the form of an eGift Card) for the best Self Portrait. Second place in the contest earns an $850 eGift Card to Jerry’s Artarama while third place earns a $400 eGift Card and 30 honorable mentions will win $25 eGift Cards.

The rules for this contest are simple: Draw or paint a picture of yourself using any wet or dry medium. This includes acrylic, oil and watercolor paints and mediums, pastels, colored pencils, charcoal, graphite, etc. Media is of the artist’s choice. Contestants are allowed to be as abstract or as surreal as they like as long as it is creative, original and of themselves. One entry is allowed per person. Jerry's Artarama 2015 Self Portrait Contest is open to US residents only and all entrants must be 18 or older. Entries will be accepted from January 12, 2015-April 5th, 2015. All entries are accepted on the Jerry’s Artarama website, search keyword “portraitcontest”.

“Self-portraiture is one of the world’s oldest subject matters dating back to the Cave of Lascaux and is a great outlet for creativity.” Said Mike Marchetta, Director of Marketing Operations for Jerry’s Artarama. “Already this year, we’ve had more artists send in some of the most creative portraits we’ve ever seen and are excited to see people enter the contest, win some great prizes and express themselves in our favorite event of the year.”

Open Voting begins April 6th and is open to the public for online voting by popular vote on the Jerry’s Artarama Contest Page where 30 Finalists will be chosen among the entries. Open voting ends April 21st, 2015. A separate jury will choose 30 additional finalists during this time for a total of 60 finalists. A jury of professional artists who will decide the winners for first, second, and third place as well as 30 honorable mentions, will then review all 60 finalists.

Artists interested in entering the contest can visit the official contest page on jerrysartarama.com for the official rules and entry. Entries must be received by April 5th, 2015. Voting begins April 6th, 2015 and winners will be announced May 4th, 2015.
