“There is a tremendous need for pediatric eye care on Long Island,” said Dr. Martin, “and we are fortunate that a surgeon with Dr. Liebert’s tremendous training and expertise has chosen North Shore Eye Care to share her skills."
Smithtown, New York (PRWEB) January 15, 2015
In their continued effort to provide residents of Long Island the most comprehensive eye care services available today, North Shore Eye Care has announced the addition of noted pediatric ophthalmologist, Michelle E. Liebert, MD to their medical staff, according to Jeffrey Martin, MD, medical director and chief surgeon of North Shore Eye Care.
“Our focus at North Shore Eye Care has not shifted since my father, Dr. Sidney Martin, founded our practice on Long Island more than 52years ago,” said Dr. Martin. “Our goal has always been to provide men and women of all ages – including infants and children – the same level of superior eye care found in major medical centers around the world…right here on Long Island. The addition of our new pediatric eye surgeon, Dr. Liebert, is simply another step in our journey to continue to serve as Long Island’s preferred ophthalmology provider.”
Dr. Liebert is an experienced Board-Certified ophthalmologist specializing in pediatric eye care and strabismus. “The entire staff and medical team at North Shore Eye Care are extremely proud to have such a specialist on our staff,” said Martin. Dr. Liebert’s experience includes training with the finest surgeons at Harvard’s Boston Children’s Hospital, including working with children from the Neonatal ICU during the past twelve years. In addition to the compassion, surgical skills and knowledge she brings to North Shore Eye Care, Dr. Liebert’s unique and personal approach to caring for children is welcoming to both parents and their children alike.
“Joining the medical staff of one of New York’s premiere ophthalmology practices is truly an honor,” said Dr. Liebert. “The tradition of excellence North Shore Eye Care has established over the past 52 years is remarkable, and I could not be more proud to join a team of professionals who are committed to the highest level of patient care.” Dr. Liebert will initially be seeing pediatric patients in the Smithtown and Riverhead locations of North Shore Eye Care.
“There is a tremendous need for pediatric eye care on Long Island,” said Dr. Martin, “and we are fortunate that a surgeon with Dr. Liebert’s tremendous training and expertise has chosen North Shore Eye Care to share her skills.” Her services will include evaluating a premature infant’s visual system, assessing the visual performance of school-aged child, treating injuries and infections in children’s eyes and performing delicate surgery on the eyes of youngsters with eye muscle imbalances.
Dr. Liebert received her medical degree from SUNY Syracuse, completed residency training at NYU Manhattan Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Hospital in 2001 and completed a Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus Fellowship at Harvard’s Boston Children’s Hospital. “Children are more than miniature adults,” said Dr. Liebert, “and their eye problems require diagnostic and treatment methods that are different from adults. I look forward to working with children of all ages to help them enjoy a lifetime of the best possible vision.”
