Seventh Annual ISSA-LA Information Security Summit Special Early Bird Registration Starts January 15
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) January 16, 2015 -- Starting January 15 the Los Angeles Chapter of the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA-LA) is offering a special early bird price to its Seventh Annual Information Security Summit on June 4, 2015, at the Los Angeles Convention Center. This special offer will be available through February 15, 2015. The Summit’s theme is The Growing Cyber Threat: Protect Your Business, reflecting the growing need organizations have for information systems security solutions in the battle against cybercrime.
Reflecting ISSA-LA’s core belief that ‘It takes the village to secure the village’ SM, the ISSA-LA Summit is the only educational forum in Los Angeles specifically designed to encourage participation and interaction among all four vital information security constituencies: (1) business executives, senior business managers, and their trusted advisors; (2) technical IT personnel with responsibility for information systems and the data they contain; (3) law enforcement and (4) information security practitioners with responsibility for ensuring the security of sensitive information.
“With cybersecurity permeating everyone’s consciousness due to the proliferation of digital devices, it is imperative that we share information in order to better protect ourselves,“ said ISSA-LA Summit Co-Chair and Secretary David Collins. “The interest in sharing knowledge, from individuals to professionals, has been so great that we had to change our venue to the LA Convention Center in order to accommodate more participants.”
The Summit is recognized around the globe for the quality of its keynotes and speakers. This year’s line-up of featured speakers is no exception leading off with internationally renowned security technology expert and author Bruce Schneier as the primary keynote speaker. Other speakers include Jim Manico, secure coding instructor, author and a member of the global Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) Board of Directors; Jerry Hoff, vice president of the Static Code Analysis Division at WhiteHat Security, and Marcus Ranum, Chief Security Officer (CSO) at Tenable Security, Inc.
“Holding the next Summit at the LA Convention Center is a major step forward for our organization,” said Co-Chair and ISSA-LA Board Member Richard Greenberg. “As the attendance at the yearly Summit continues to grow, it became clear that we needed a world-class venue. Additionally, more and more exhibitors are anxious to display their software and services at the Summit, which created a need for more space. Our training program also needed additional rooms to accommodate increased participation.”
This year’s training classes, incorporated within the Summit, will take place on June 5th at the Convention Center. Classes will cover a wide variety of information security topics and will be conducted by some of the most notable and influential people in the industry.
Registration is open to anyone interested in learning more about information security but is particularly recommended for information security practitioners along with business and nonprofit executives and senior managers; business professionals in law, accounting, insurance and banking; technical IT personnel; law enforcement professionals fighting cybercrime; and faculty and students in college and university cybersecurity programs.
The Information Security Summit is part of ISSA-LA’s important community outreach program. The goal of the program is to help the community stay safe from cybercrime by enabling the necessary collaboration between business, nonprofit and community leaders, technical IT professionals, law enforcement and the information security community.
