Hundreds of No-Cost Carbon Monoxide Detectors Distributed by William Mattar, Amanda Hansen Foundation, and Tops Markets
Buffalo, NY (PRWEB) January 19, 2015 -- On Sunday, January 18, 2015, William Mattar and Tops Friendly Markets joined with the Amanda Hansen Foundation to distribute hundreds of free carbon monoxide detectors to the community at Tops’ Lockport location.
Carbon monoxide, often referred to as “the silent killer”, is a colorless, odorless poisonous gas that can cause illness and even death without victims ever knowing they are being exposed. Carbon monoxide detectors are a crucial defense against this danger.
William Mattar was pleased to be able to join with Tops and the Amanda Hansen Foundation to help keep the community safe from the dangers of carbon monoxide.
About The Amanda Hansen Foundation
The Amanda Hansen Foundation was established in September 2010 in memory of 16-year-old Amanda Hansen who passed away in January 2009 from carbon monoxide poisoning. With the goal of raising awareness of the dangers of carbon monoxide in the home, the foundation holds many fundraisers and has given out thousands of CO detectors to local residents. They are currently seeking community support to help them continue to carry out this important mission.
Six months after Amanda's death, "Amanda's Law" was passed in New York State, requiring all homes to have at least one CO detector. For more information, visit http://www.amandahansen.org.
