HNTB’s Peter Aarons appointed to Airports Council International – North America Business Information Technology Committee
LOS ANGELES (PRWEB) January 21, 2015 -- Peter Aarons, HNTB Corporation’s West Division aviation director and associate vice president, has been appointed by Airports Council International – North America to the 2015 Business Information Technology Committee. Bringing more than 25 years of industry experience, Aarons joins a distinguished group of aviation professionals at ACI-NA who advocate policies and provide services that strengthen the ability of airports to serve their passengers, customers and communities. A member of ACI-NA since 1996, Aarons served the past four years as a theme manager for airport terminals on the BIT committee.
“I’m pleased to continue my involvement with ACI-NA in my new role on the Business Information Technologies Committee,” Aarons said. “Our group’s most important task is to increase awareness and monitor global industry developments to identify technologies that can enhance efficiency and reduce costs for airports, as well as provide input on policy and regulatory matters on behalf of ACI-NA members and associates.”
The Business Information Technologies Committee is the forum where members with airport-related information technology responsibilities can network, communicate, share data, conduct research and keep up-to-date with the latest technological developments. The committee examines new and emerging technologies for their applicability to airport systems, and it reviews how existing systems can be improved to better serve the airport system and the needs of customers.
Committee focus areas include: airport information management systems, private and public communication services, intranet and internet computer networking, system design and application of new technology. Members prepare congressional testimony, respond to regulatory proposals and develop national and international policies for airport operators. The committee is represented on industry and governmental communications and IT task forces.
In his role as West Division aviation director, Aarons leads development and implementation of aviation strategy from HNTB’s Los Angeles office, where he develops targeted client service action plans, project pursuits and industry representation. Prior to joining HNTB, Aarons served as program manager for the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, where he provided oversight for more than $800 million in capital improvement projects, most notably the “Green Build” terminal development program.
