Seccuris Celebrates 15 Years of Providing Business-driven Cybersecurity Solutions
Winnipeg, Manitoba (PRWEB) January 21, 2015 -- Seccuris Inc., a leading international cybersecurity consulting and managed services firm, announced that it’s celebrating its 15th year of operation. Based in Winnipeg, Man. Canada, Seccuris was founded in late 1999 by visionaries who wanted to offer a new and innovative “business-driven” approach to information security and secure business operations.
One of those visionaries was Michael Legary. Legary, who was only 19 at the time, had a dream of developing an internationally recognized information assurance firm. Since then, the company has built the reputation for being a provider of unparalleled solutions through security consulting, risk management, managed security services, and education.
It’s also accomplished some significant achievements within the security field. In 2001, Seccuris developed and launched the Citadel, a Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) technology, for the Canadian government. Today, Citidal has evolved into the OneStone™ Information Assurance Portal, a cloud-based platform that protects commercial clients from external and internal threats through reliable 24/7 remote monitoring and security management.
Other major Seccuris achievements include establishing Canada’s first commercial, full-service digital forensics lab, and developing a ground-breaking anomaly detection sensor. It also became the first Canadian information security provider to create a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) university-grade research lab, now dubbed “Seccuris Labs.”
Seccuris Labs provides leading-edge international security knowledge to the company, its clients, governments, and other organizations. Seccuris Labs personnel also regularly contribute to Information Communications Technology (ICT) Ecosystem projects, and they collaborate in projects with other security research establishments, including universities, product vendors, and telecommunications companies.
In 2006, Legary assumed the role of Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer, where he provides a focus on industry guidance and the company’s innovation strategy. Geoff Besko, a security veteran with experience in information technology and strategy, took the reigns as President and Chief Executive Officer to lead Seccuris into its next stage of company growth.
The heart of Seccuris’s approach to security is a concept called Enterprise Security Architecture (ESA). ESA is a comprehensive framework and methodology to conceive, conceptualize, design, implement and manage security in a business-integrated model. It’s designed to help protect organizations without restricting their business performance. ESA adapts the best security practices and frameworks, most significantly the Sherwood Applied Business Security Architecture (SABSA), the world’s leading open security architecture framework and methodology.
There are only three SABSA Certified Master Architects in North America, and two of them are Michael Legary and Geoff Besko. That is just one of the many qualifications that makes Seccuris the trusted source for business-driven security knowledge and solutions.
“Seccuris is the unique alternative because we assess each client’s entire enterprise, not just their technology,” said Legary. “Then we tailor the exact security programs clients need to protect their organizations without limiting their ability to conduct business. That way they can make effective risk-based decisions at every level.”
“Very few firms possess the capability to compete with us, especially not in the design, implementation, and management of an enterprise security program,” added Besko. “Seccuris has capabilities that surpass many of our competitors in the areas of Managed Security Services and research and development, as well as the architecture, integration and automation of third party security technology."
Five years ago, Legary won the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year award, recognizing the exceptional success and continuing growth of Seccuris. Today, the company continues its expansion. Besides Winnipeg, the company has offices in Calgary, Alta., Regina, Sask., and Ottawa, Ont. In 2013, Seccuris established a U.S. headquarters in Dallas, Tex., lead by Managing Director Patrick Hayes. Since then, its opened offices in Austin, Tex. and Minneapolis, Minn., with plans to open more in the near future. This month, the Dallas headquarters moved into a larger office to better serve its clients.
Seccuris is also eyeing expansion across the globe. It's already getting requests from major organizations around the world, including recent engagements with one of the five largest Fortune 500 companies, a financial-services organization in Africa, and a multinational in the Middle East.
“We serve clients of all sizes in every industry, including governments, internet providers, financial firms, educational institutes, gaming companies, and oil and gas corporations,” said Legary. “Because of the work we’re doing, we’re able to provide security solutions to clients when and where they need it most.”
