Now in our 5th year, we're putting together the best show to date: an exciting new location, fresh voices on the stage, cutting-edge technology in the expo hall, and most importantly, more ways to connect with other attendees.
Charlotte, N.C. (PRWEB) January 22, 2015
FinCon, the premier industry event for the money media community, today announced keynote speakers and sponsors for the annual event. The 5th annual event caters to personal finance and investing bloggers and journalist, podcasters, authors, Youtubers, and financial professionals. #FinCon15 is set to take place September 17-20th 2015 at The Westin Charlotte in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The opening keynote address will be from Carl Richards, a certified financial planner most popularly known for his weekly “Sketch Guy” column in The New York Times. He is also the Director of Investor Education for BAM Alliance and columnist for Morningstar Advisor. Known for making difficult financial concepts easy to understand through the use of his trademark simple sketches, Richard’s second book The One Page Financial Plan: A Simple Way to Be Smart About Your Money uses these sketches to cut through the complexity people associate with financial decisions.
Tess Vigeland, a veteran journalist and popular radio personality will also keynote at the 2015 conference. As the former host of weekly personal finance show, Marketplace Money, Vigeland is no stranger to personal finance journalism and attended FinCon in 2011 on behalf of Marketplace Money. Her first book, “Leap Without a Net: Leaving a Job with No Plan B” is due out in August 2015, shortly before the September event. Vigeland’s keynote will cover advice for those looking to make a career change.
Podcasting guru Grant Baldwin will deliver the closing keynote on Sunday morning. Baldwin is a nationally known keynote speaker and host of the #1 Career podcast on Itunes, “How Did You Get into That?”, a show that reaches over 30,000 listeners each month and helps others find work they love. After delivering a popular break out session at the 2014 FinCon event, Grant was invited back to keynote the 2015 conference.
“I'm excited to see this great community come together once again for #FinCon15,” said Philip Taylor, the creator of FinCon and blogger behind ptmoney.com, “Now in our 5th year, we're putting together the best show to date: an exciting new location, fresh voices on the stage, cutting-edge technology in the expo hall, and most importantly, more ways to connect with other attendees so that we can meet our goals for the year."
Personal finance site The Penny Hoarder has signed on as a sponsor, and Tradeking and Ally Bank will be returning as sponsors this year. Both Tradeking and Ally sponsored last year’s event, #FinCon14, which was held in New Orleans, Louisiana. The 2014 conference was FinCon’s best-attended event yet, which saw over 600 in attendance, and boasted partnerships from over 50 reputable brands in personal finance, investing, and web solutions.
In addition to attendee favorites such as celebrity keynotes and blogger breakout sessions, FinCon is adding new events, including a FinTech Startup Competition for burgeoning solutions in personal finance and investing. Based on positive attendee feedback from 2014, many events that were new to the conference last year will return, such as the Freelancer’s Marketplace, Live Podcasting Stage, and the Community Service Project, benefiting a local cause. FinCon also just announced a partnership with Kasai Media, a personal finance blogger and influencer network, which will act as the official influencer network for the event going forward.
Registration for the annual event is now open. Those interested in attending the conference may choose between three competitive plans and pricing options: The standard FinCon Pass, a PR/Industry Pass, and a Pro-Pass that gives attendees additional VIP-only networking events and mixers. The XY Planning Network (fee-only financial advisors) and the team from Digital CoLab (digital influencers) will be collocating their annual events with FinCon, which will be held prior to the FinCon. Additionally, the annual Plutus Awards is also set to host its annual award ceremony at the expo again this year. Now in its sixth year, the Plutus Awards celebrate the best in personal finance blogging, social media, and financial technology and products.
