Carefree, Arizona (PRWEB) January 22, 2015 -- Victoria Orrico is a renowned gourd artist who specializes in whimsical creations featuring Sonoran Desert Art. She is quickly becoming one of Arizona’s top desert artists featuring pieces of such unique design that no two pieces are alike. Victoria Orrico works out of a studio in Carefree, Arizona and has been an artist all her life. Originally from the Chicago suburbs, Victoria now specializes in desert art that reflects her surroundings.
Gourd Art is quickly becoming popular in many circles and the carved hand-painted gourd-shell as an art medium is something that people really have to see to appreciate. There have been many creations over the last five years that show just how quickly this art form is becoming popular. The gourds are typically harvested and then left to dry for a period of time before the artist can begin decorating and carving.
Victoria’s work will be on display at the Carefree Indian Market Cultural Festival this January from the 23 to the 25. There will be close to one hundred artists at this festival to celebrate the Native American culture and artistry that the Southwest is known for.
Admission to the event is free to the public and there will be dancing and musical performances taking place throughout the weekend with thousands of visitors expected to attend. There will be a food court featuring Southwestern cuisine as well as other events that will take place over the weekend. World champion dancer, Brian Hamel, will be performing as well as many others.
Victoria Orrico is very excited to attend this event and display her art with all the other famous artists that will be in attendance, including famous silversmith Gary Sanchez. All of this and more can be viewed at the Sanderson Lincoln Pavilion in Carefree, Arizona January 23-25.
