Esterform Packaging Limited has announced that they have acquired the business of Constar UK, based at Sherburn-in-Elmet near York. The acquisition follows the announcement of an £8m investment program.

Esterform's founder, Mark Tyne, said, 'The two companies manufacture very similar products with a good deal of duplicate tooling, so it makes perfect sense to welcome Constar UK into the Esterform group.'

Esterform manufactures 1.5 billion PET preforms and containers from its two sites in Tenbury Wells and Leeds. This acquisition will take the group’s overall capability to in excess of 3 billion units.

This form of expansion is not new to Esterform, which, since its formation in 2000, has acquired both Able Industries and Pet Plas Packaging.

The acquisition of Constar goes alongside privately-owned Esterform's announcement three weeks ago of their £8 million investment in state-of-the-art manufacturing technology, developing capabilities at both the Leeds and Tenbury Wells manufacturing units.
