On New Year’s Day, Staff Pro “rose” to the challenge of orchestrating event staffing and security for America’s largest New Year’s Day party. The event staffing and security company was tasked with protecting the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day. Hundreds of Staff Pro employees flocked to Pasadena, California on New Year’s Eve to prepare for the televised event.
The Rose Parade, also known as the Tournament of Roses, is the largest event of the "America's New Year Celebration" held annually in Pasadena. More than 700,000 people attend the parade each year. The city also hosts the Rose Bowl Game each New Year’s Day, drawing even more visitors to the area.
Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association, a non-profit organization that producudes the parade each year, tapped Staff Pro to provide event security in partnership with the city’s law enforcement agencies. Staff Pro employees facilitated a full-scale team effort with the city, working hand in hand with the Pasadena Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Pasadena fire and police departments, and more than 930 volunteers to execute a successful parade.
Staff Pro personnel worked around the clock during the coldest parade weather in 50 years, including a 2:30 a.m. show call and pre-event site walk-through with volunteers, firefighters, and police. Ultimately, the success of the parade and the special experience enjoyed by 700,000 guests reflect the collective efforts of the event security staff, public safety personnel, and volunteers working together, in keeping with this year’s parade theme, “Inspiring Stories,” about “ordinary people who do extraordinary things.”
Months of event planning and coordination went into the Rose Parade , including careful selection of personnel and targeted training. During the weeks leading up to the event, staff members completed comprehensive orientation sessions to familiarize themselves with the layout of the parade and surroundings so they could efficiently direct guests to resources and assistance.
Thushan Rajapaksa, Vice President of Staff Pro, cited the company’s focus on positive visitor experiences as the driving force behind the Rose Parade’s teamwork and effort. After an incident-free event, Rajapaska, who developed a multi-year deal with the Tournament of Roses Association, is already beginning to make plans for another safe, secure, and unforgettable parade in 2016.
