Lead concierge of the all-suite Clearwater Beach, Florida hotel named president of the esteemed Bay Area Concierge Association

Gary Hidu, Lead Concierge at Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort and Spa has been named President of the Bay Area Concierge Association (B.A.C.A.), an organization whose membership represents the major hotel brands throughout the tri-cities region of Tampa, St. Petersburg and Clearwater, along with vendor representatives from various hospitality supportive specialties.

A current Gold Key member of the prestigious Les Clefs d’Or USA International Concierge Society, Hidu has over eight years of experience as a Resort Concierge on Clearwater Beach, serving at the Hyatt since its opening in 2010 and before as concierge at Sheraton Sand Key. A four-time Employee of the Month winner, twice each at Hyatt and Sheraton, Hidu was named Hyatt Regency Clearwater’s Employee of the Year for 2012. A B.A.C.A. member since 2008, Hidu served two terms on the association’s Board of Directors as Vice President, Community Affairs Pinellas County. Hidu is also active within the local beach community, serving as a member of the Board of Sunsets at Pier 60. In 2010 he was named Tourism Person of the Year runner-up by the Clearwater Beach Chamber of Commerce, second to Winter, the star subject of Disney’s A Dolphin Tale. In 2011, Hidu was named MyClearwater Magazine’s May 2011 inaugural “Clearwater Character.”

Hidu spends countless hours scouring the bay area destination for the best activities, restaurants, shopping and attractions. Armed with a surplus of ideas and recommendations, as well as an ability to keenly understand individual needs, Hidu is a leader in his field.

“I am thrilled and humbled that my colleagues have faith and confidence in me to have bestowed this honor on me to be their leader during this term,” he says. “My mission for our organization is to promote the education of our membership on the area’s multitude of attractions, the natural environment, civic volunteerism and professional career advancement in Les Clefs d’Or, to bring to the forefront the importance of Hotel Concierges in the Hospitality Industry.”
