Singapore's HNWI expected to reach US$313.1 billion by 2018

The publication lists all the details of individuals with a high net worth residing in Singapore for the year 2014, and provides a forecast for the same till 2018. The report provides a descriptive analysis of the private banking sector in Singapore and its wealth management, in terms of the opportunities and restraints encountered by it.

The wealth stored outside the country by HNWIs from Singapore is higher than the global average of 20-30%. 36.1% of the 2013 foreign assets held by Singaporean HNWIs were accounted for in Europe. Asia Pacific constituted 26.7%, while 25.4% of the total foreign assets were held by North America.

During the publication’s review period, which also includes historical data, the overall foreign assets of high net worth individuals from Singapore in the Asia Pacific region have fallen. The share has dropped from a major 48.7% in 2009 to 26.7% in 2013. In terms of global investments, North America and Europe were defined as emerging regions and are expected to be strong drivers for the increase for the foreign assets held by Singaporean HNWIs. The overall foreign assets held by Singapore’s high net worth individuals in Asia Pacific are expected to continue slipping. The total share is expected to drop to 12.5% by 2018.

The publication also provides an estimate for 2018. It states that the foreign assets holding of high net worth individuals in Singapore will be worth around US$313.1 billion. This will account for 30.4% of the total assets owned by Singapore’s high net worth individuals.

The report covers details of Singapore’s high net worth individuals in terms of population and the wealth management market between the end of 2008 and the end of 2013. The report then provides descriptive details of the 2014 HNWI asset allocation trends in Singapore and uses the figures to calculate estimations till 2018.
