Atterro CFO Mike Kennedy to Offer Real-Life Lessons on Budgeting & Finances to a Minnesota Charter School
Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) January 23, 2015 -- Mike Kennedy, CFO at staffing provider Atterro Human Capital Group, will be teaching a budgeting class on January 26 at Ubah Medical Academy, a charter school in Hopkins, MN. Kennedy was invited to speak by BestPrep, a nonprofit organization that offers resources to help students be successful in work and life.
“Atterro’s employees are great examples of volunteers who help fulfill BestPrep’s mission of preparing students for success in the areas of business, career, and financial literacy,” says Andrea Hanson, vice president of educational programs at BestPrep. “We’re excited to continue to grow our partnership with Atterro. They are committed to giving back and helping students reach their full potential – we can’t thank them enough.”
To provide practical learning experiences, BestPrep connects schools with field experts, like Kennedy. The budgeting class Kennedy will lead includes a real-life scenario: creative budgeting to purchase a laptop. He will encourage students to think about budgeting in a new way and will provide resources that students can use to manage their own finances.
“While I’ll be talking about budgeting, my primary message is to never stop learning, whether it’s learning new ways to save for a laptop or acquiring skills that could lead to a new career,” notes Kennedy.
Kennedy will also share how his educational background and career path led him to where he is today. As CFO, Kennedy is responsible for managing Atterro’s finance, IT, purchasing and leasing, risk management, and legal teams. In his three years at Atterro, Kennedy has led three acquisitions, facilitated expansion into new markets, and helped create revenue growth, including 18 percent in 2013 over the previous year. Most recently, he was named 2014 CFO of the Year by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.
“I look forward to sharing my career experiences as a CFO and teaching lessons on budgeting, but most importantly, I’m excited to inspire students to think big when it comes to their futures,” says Kennedy.
