There are several tools that let developers launch containers but don’t provide capabilities necessary to manage and operate complex, distributed applications. Our goal is to address that gap
San Jose, CA (PRWEB) January 26, 2015
Nirmata (nirmata.com), a microservices operations and management platform, announced today that it has launched a public beta offer. Nirmata provides a software-as-a-service solution to manage and operate next generation applications, also referred to as microservices based applications, across public and private clouds.
"Cloud computing has fundamentally changed how software is developed. delivered, and consumed. More cloud software is being developed than ever before, and Enterprises are starting to build cloud-native software, but struggling with operations and management of these complex, distributed applications," said Jim Bugwadia, founder and CEO of Nirmata. Nirmata seeks to eliminate deployment and operations challenges for cloud-native applications, hence increasing enterprise agility. Nirmata builds on Linux container technology, which has recently gained tremendous popularity with developers, to offer a comprehensive application management solution.
“There are several tools that let developers launch containers but don’t provide capabilities necessary to manage and operate complex, distributed applications. Our goal is to address that gap,” said Jim.
Getting started with Nirmata is very easy. Users can sign up and securely onboard resources from their cloud providers, even from behind a firewall. Nirmata supports Amazon Web Services (AWS), and a number of other public cloud providers, but users can add resources from any public or private cloud, or even bare metal hosts. Once cloud resources are added, users can create application blueprints and deploy them to these cloud resources.
"Enterprises are looking for agility, scale, and rapid software iterations. The combination of application containerization, using technologies like Docker, and fine grain Microservices architectures is poised to radically change the way applications are built, shipped, and deployed. Docker accelerates application delivery by making it easy to package an application, along with its dependencies for easy distribution. However, there are several key gaps in the solutions available today, around portability, orchestration, and ongoing operations. The Nirmata solution addresses these key gaps. We have been working with Nirmata both as a Cisco Cloud Marketplace partner, and also with several internal DevOps teams. We will be demonstrating the solution at Cisco Live Milan", said Ken Owens, CTO of Cisco Cloud Services.
Nirmata’s rich policy framework provides enterprise DevOps teams with fine-grained control over how resources are utilized across clouds. Once the application is deployed, users can monitor and manage it using the built-in monitoring dashboards. Nirmata also offers seamless service registration and discovery, load-balancing, and customizable routing, eliminating the need for several disparate tools.
"Microservices-style architectures enable cloud-native applications and DevOps agility. The Nirmata solution offers enterprises an efficient and effective way to adopt best practices for deploying and operating cloud based applications and services", said Sudhir Tonse, Advisor to Nirmata and an Engineering Leader responsible for many Netflix OSS Cloud Platform initiatives.
During the beta period, Nirmata will be available for free. To sign up please visit https://signup.nirmata.io.
