Debut author Kyle R. Smith proudly announces the release of his newest novel.

“The Book of Roger: His Adventure and Discovery of Cruiser 5.0,” the first novel in Kyle R. Smith’s new young adult adventure series, is now available on Amazon in paperback and Kindle editions.

To celebrate, a launch party will be held on Feb. 13 from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Phoenix Mesa Marriott Hotel in Mesa, AZ. Attendees who buy a book at the party will be entered into a raffle to win prizes, including an iPad, iPod Touch, iTunes downloads, and more.

The novel tells the story of Roger Dexter, a fourteen-year-old boy who discovers a secret invention that will change his life forever.

His older brother, Randy, was an inventor who died tragically in an accident while keeping a mysterious secret, one that will bring Roger and his best friends, Max and Aaron, into a world that would blow their minds. When Roger discovers a small flying robot, he is led to one of his brother’s biggest projects, the Cruiser 5.0. Roger and his friends are astounded with what the device can do when it interacts with electricity, but they soon learn that Randy’s inventions are being sought after by wealthy Russian businessmen who will stop at nothing to have them, unless the U.S. government gets them first.

“The Book of Roger first came to my mind when I was given an English assignment in the 10th grade. From there, the first draft was created and stored for years,” Kyle said. “I took the idea and began to build on it after telling parts of the story to a bored youth class I was teaching. When this class of middle-grade kids perked up and I had their attention, I dove into telling them about my character Roger and his story.”

The novel was published by Amazon’s CreateSpace. “I chose to self-publish my first novel through CreateSpace. It was a wise choice, and they helped make my dream a reality,” Kyle said. “I will never forget the first day my proof arrived and I saw my book in print. It was a great day and gave me an overwhelming sense of accomplishing one of my biggest goals.”

The Book of Roger is the first novel in Kyle’s new series geared for the young adult adventure genre. As a father of six, he loves to tell his children stories and adventures set in the world they live in. His ideas and storytelling are unique and pull readers into his world of technology and ideas. The Book of Roger is certain to entertain both younger and older readers alike.

“After finishing the book, I tell the youth that inspired me to write it to get out those ideas and fun stories in your head and write them down; you never know when you might pick them up again and build on them for others to enjoy,” Kyle added.

Book 2, “Cruiser 6.0 and Beyond,” is scheduled for release in Fall 2015.
