eDiscovery Veteran, Tom O’Connor, Joins Advanced Discovery as a Senior Consultant
Austin, Texas (PRWEB) January 27, 2015 -- Tom O’Connor, JD, has been a consultant, author and speaker in the field of automated litigation systems and electronic discovery for the past 30 years. During that time, he has helped to shape the initiative to incorporate electronically stored information (ESI) into the discovery process with his three books and hundreds of articles in national publications.
His consulting experience largely involves complex litigation matters for AmLaw 100 firms and Fortune 50 corporations, where he implements systems to acquire, process, review, share and produce electronic documents. Tom’s expertise has been recognized by several federal and state courts, and he has been appointed as a technical consultant on various cases dealing with large volumes of electronic evidence. He has been involved with several prominent cases including the BP oil spill MDL action (docket MDL No. 2179, captioned In re: Oil Spill by the Oil Rig "Deepwater Horizon" in the Gulf of Mexico, on April 20, 2010, presided over by US District Judge Carl Barbier) and various phases of the Enron case, which is often considered the first high profile case involving ESI.
As senior eDiscovery consultant, Tom will be assisting Advanced Discovery clients in database design, implementation and training as well as eDiscovery-specific issues such as retention policies, litigation holds and document exchange protocols. Additionally, Tom will be presenting at major legal conferences and writing for national legal publications. He will also be contributing weekly posts to the Advanced Discovery blog.
“I am very excited to be joining the Advanced Discovery team. In the past, I’ve worked with several of the company’s executives such as Rick Hutchinson and Shimmy Messing on specific projects, and I’ve always known them as technology leaders,” Tom says about his decision to move in-house with Advanced Discovery. “I’ve seen growth and expanded opportunities stemming from the company’s emphasis on services and workflow to support technology. I’m eager to help add to that ongoing expansion and looking forward to working with the entire Advanced Discovery team coast to coast.”
“Tom is always in demand as a speaker for national and local CLE events including LegalTech NY, ABA TechShow and LegalTech West,” said Rick Hutchinson, COO of Advanced Discovery. “We are excited to have him as part of our team to share his expertise with our clients and to expand industry knowledge and best practices when he represents Advanced Discovery at eDiscovery events.”
