Top D.C.-area government contractor and IT managed services provider Corporate Network Services (CNS) and FileMaker business partner Anvil Dataworks announced a merger on Monday, becoming MainSpring, Inc. The 22 year-old IT strategy and consulting firm promises businesses, non-profits and federal government partners a simpler more innovative approach to tying technology to organizational goals.
“People have seen us as three disparate companies, and we’ve often acted like it,” said MainSpring CEO Marshall Micheals. “A government contractor, an IT partner and application development shop. With growth comes change, so we’ve restructured our business approach into a true IT strategy and consulting firm. Our goal is to make it easier for clients, partners and our employees to innovate and grow."
Micheals established the company as CNS in 1993 with just three employees in a townhouse basement focused on bringing small businesses into the new age with cabling services. They quickly expanded to support Department of Defense clients at Fort Detrick, Md. In January, CNS partnered with L-3 Communications to win a five-year, multi-million dollar contract renewal with the Army’s Medical Communications for Combat Casualty Care (MC4) program.
In 2009, CNS launched a new application development division branded as Anvil Dataworks to partner with organizations looking for innovative solutions using FileMaker, a solution from Apple. Anvil grew to support clients across the business units, like the National Institute of Health and the Department of Justice. In 2014, for the second consecutive year FileMaker, Inc., recognized Anvil with the Business Partner of the Year Award.
Now under one new name, MainSpring has 57 employees in four states and is expanding its presence to Fort Sam Houston, Texas, Fort Bragg, N.C., Fort Lewis, Wash., and overseas.
MainSpring, Inc., is an IT strategy and consulting firm that arms organizations with the strategy, tools and resources to grow.
Founded in 1993, MainSpring is headquartered in Poolesville, Md., with offices in Florida, Ohio, Washington and Wisconsin. The firm supports a wide range of clients including businesses, non-profits and government agencies such as the Department of Defense.
