Integrated Geophysics Corporation (IGC) Presents a Review of the South Papuan Kikori Basin Interpretation
Houston, TX (PRWEB) February 10, 2015 -- Integrated Geophysics Corporation (IGC) announced today a presentation of their South Papuan Basin interpretation will be made at the ASEG-PESA 28th International Geophysical Conference. With only limited seismic and well data available, the most timely and cost efficient exploration option for the permit holder was to acquire and interpret airborne gravity and magnetic surveys and to reprocess the existing seismic data. The expert IGC team processed and interpreted the aeromagnetic profile data using data enhancement techniques. Integration of the data sets was done using 2D structural models that allowed incorporation of the surface geology, seismic and subsurface data. The final interpretation revealed what appears to be a large, deep Jurassic basin that IGC has named Kikori Basin.
ExxonMobil’s development of the Hides area to the northwest and Inter Oil’s giant gas discoveries in the Elk and Antelope fields to the east have revitalized exploration in southern Papuan. Several target leads in and around the new basin have been selected for detailing by new seismic programs. When the new basin is confirmed, with new seismic data, it could be a new reservoir.
The results will be presented by Michael Alexander, Geophysical Advisor at the upcoming ASEG-PESA (28th International Geophysical Conference and Exhibition) being held the 15th through 18th of February 2015. http://www.conference.aseg.org.au
According to Corine Prieto, President of IGC, “Integrating seismic, geology and subsurface with GM geophysics enables oil explorers to do interpretations in both a time and cost effective manner. With these results we can define and focus seismic projects earlier, minimizing the risk of conducting expensive investigations before potential is determined.”
