Ko Olina Hosts Fourth Annual LOTTE Championship, April 12-18, 2015
Ko Olina, O‘ahu, HAWAI‘I (PRWEB) January 28, 2015 -- Ko Olina Resort and Ko Olina Golf Club will host the fourth annual LOTTE Championship, April 12-18, 2015. The LPGA event will be held at the challenging Ko Olina Golf Club (http://www.koolinagolf.com), consistently named one of Golf Digest’s “Top 75 Resort Courses in the U.S.”
The four-day tournament will be broadcast live domestically on the Golf Channel and globally through the LPGA’s international broadcast network. 144 players will be vying for a total purse of $1.8 million, with $270,000 going to the champion.
The 2014 LOTTE Championship featured a photo finish by Hawai‘i-born Michelle Wie, who caught Angela Stanford with six birdies in the final round to clinch her third-career victory and first since the 2012 CN Canadian Women’s Open. “Winning the LOTTE was a dream come true and I could not have dreamt up a better ending. I'm so appreciative of all my supporters in Hawai‘i and I can't wait to try to defend my title this year,” said the now-25-year-old Honolulu native after the win.
Previous LOTTE Championship winners include Suzann Pettersen in 2013 and Ai Miyazato in 2012.
Ko Olina has a storied history of hosting professional golf events and is ideally suited to host multi-day PGA and LPGA championships. The resort’s championship course, popular Golf Academy, kamaʻaina lifestyle community and world-class amenities, from Disney’s Aulani Resort & Spa and Ko Olina Station’s boutique retail and restaurants, to a private marina and 1.5 miles of white sand beaches and swimming lagoons, are a big part of the ongoing success of the LOTTE Championship. Most recently, the resort announced its newest hotel partner, Four Seasons Resort Oʻahu at Ko Olina, ushering in a new era of luxury for the west side resort destination.
