Christopher Baer Collaborates With Venetian Glass Artisans
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) February 03, 2015 -- Christopher Baer, a Washington DC-based contemporary artist and painter, announces a new artistic collaboration with the Vetreria Bisanzio Gallery, a globally renowned hot glass studio and gallery on the island of Murano, Italy. Based on multiple works in Baer’s painting series, The Bisanzio craftsmen, many of whom have grown up and worked their entire lives in glass on the Murano Island, will produce glass interpretations.
Vetreria Bisanzio is a family owned and operated glass business since 1816. They pride themselves on unique collaborations to create their glasswork. Bisanzio’s co-owner Stefano Serto commented, “We are delighted to be working with Baer whose contemporary paintings and creative approach will be the primary influence in the upcoming glass works.” The new works, which will be completed in May 2015, will be on display at the newly designed JW Marriott Venice Resort & Spa on Isola delle Rose. The exhibition coincides with the 2015 Venice Biennale and will run through the Summer months at the deluxe hotel.
Christopher Baer is an American artist who works in large format and mixed media. This is the first time that Baer’s work will be used for a project of this magnitude; he says, “This is an exciting and rare opportunity to work with Bisanzio’s craftsmen most of whom are recognized globally for their style and impeccable execution of Venetian glass methods. Working with them on this project is a true privilege.” He hopes to bring this brilliant collaboration to Washington DC after the debut in Italy.
