New Harmony Place Revolutionizes Personalized Addiction Treatment
Woodland Hills, CA (PRWEB) February 03, 2015 -- By employing the most recent findings in brain research and providing daily one-on-one therapy sessions, the new Harmony Place Residential Treatment Center has raised the bar in methods for addressing substance abuse and its underlying issues.
Recently opened under new ownership by president and CEO Jeff Schwartz (LCSW), Harmony Place brings a scientifically based system to recovery treatment in a nurturing environment with an emphasis on helping clients discover the root of their addictions.
Schwartz, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with more than 30 years of experience in working with addiction, comes to Harmony Place with a solution-focused philosophy of concurrently treating an addiction and the co-occurring behavioral health disorder.
“When someone accepts the concept of addiction as a chronic disorder and combines this with evidence-based assessment tools, individualized psychotherapy and medication management, it paves the way for long-term recovery,” Schwartz said. “Research today emphasizes the critical importance of treating addiction and co-occurring disorders simultaneously because healing begins with the discovery of underlying problems.” The most important step is determining the meaning of symptoms and understanding why people continue to choose self-destructive tendencies even after the laurels of success.
Schwartz, a Master’s degree graduate of Tulane University, has worked with numerous behavioral health issues, including sexual trauma, eating disorders and chemical dependency. He has served as a consultant for psychiatric crisis teams in Los Angeles and Ventura counties and has worked as an administrator for four different substance abuse/mental health treatment centers.
Dr. Priya Chaudhri, Ph.D., is currently Executive Director at Harmony Place. She brings over 10 years of experience with clinical, administrative and operational oversight. Dr. Chaudhri has served in many executive leadership positions at various substance abuse and mental health programs. She is enthusiastic to join the distinguished team at Harmony Place and offer innovative treatment. Dr. Chaudhri is committed to the success and well-being of each client and providing the highest level of care, integrity and compassion.
The new leaders are particularly enthusiastic about the availability of the BrainRecovery® program for addiction. Harmony Place has a brain lab with a state-of-the-art neuro-imaging process that guides diagnosis and treatment. BrainRecovery® tools provide a comprehensive assessment of brain activity and thinking abilities relating to emotions, mental health and habits. The program focuses on individuals who may be experiencing post-traumatic stress, severe depression or cognitive deficits. Statistics show that use of this process has resulted in higher long-term effectiveness of treatment. The data received through neuro-imaging helps the physicians and team of wellness coordinators/LVNs on the new Harmony Place team to develop more thorough individualized programs of recovery for each client. Based on the findings, the treatment process protocol helps clients to deal with co-occurring issues, such as learning challenges, relapse triggers, anxiety, stress and depression, as well as the increase in IQ levels measured under stress.
“This sets our treatment program apart,” Schwartz said.
Holistic treatment of the physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual aspects of substance abuse is a priority at Harmony Place. The professional team helps clients bring all these areas of their lives into balance. They use a variety of methods, including cognitive behavioral therapy, which focuses on deliberate attention to thinking patterns; psychodrama, acupuncture, yoga and nutritional guidance. With video software, family involvement in the recovery process is available for those who do not live in the immediate area.
