Saint David’s School, New York, New York – The Halleran Endowment
New York, New York (PRWEB) January 30, 2015 -- In 2000, Arthur J. Halleran, Jr., class of 1961, established The Halleran Endowment for Faculty Excellence at Saint David’s School, in New York City. The Endowment supports faculty development by funding summer study projects. The fund is comprised of the following three awards:
The Malachy F. Cleary Jr. Award for Excellence in the Teaching of Humanities and Dramatics, which is named in the honor of the late Malachy F. Cleary, who died in 2000. Mr. Cleary was a beloved teacher and administrator, who served the school for 31 years. The award is annually presented to a member of the Faculty who exhibits exemplary loyalty and dedication to the mission of the school, is uniformly respected by his/her peers and symbolizes the personal and professional qualities of the esteemed former faculty member.
The Richard A. Dryzga Award for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics and Science, which is named in honor of the late Richard A. Dryzga, who died in 1993. Mr. Dryzga was a respected teacher and administrator, who served the school for 34 years. The award is annually presented to a member of the Faculty who displays admirable commitment and enthusiasm for the school, is collectively revered by his/her peers, and epitomizes the personal and professional qualities of Richard A. Dryzga.
The Halleran Athletic Award for Excellence in the Teaching of Athletics, which is given in memory of Leo B. Halleran, Jr., class of 1962. The Award is annually awarded to the Saint David’s coach, who demonstrates exemplary qualities in the teaching of the skill, effort, discipline and sportsmanship necessary for success in athletics.
Mr. Halleran has a deep regard for Saint David’s School, as it was during his years as this institution that he acquired the mathematical foundation that supported his real estate career, through Harvard Business School and the successful establishment of two major real estate and investment companies: First Winthrop Corporation and QueensFort Capital Corporation
Mr. Halleran is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of Saint David’s School.
