Moving a loved one into aged care is never going to be easy, whether it is in their home, relative's home or an aged care facility. There are so many emotions to deal with that it can be overwhelming.

There is a lot of advice on where to go and how to pay for aged care, but there is nothing about dealing with the emotions involved.

The author Rita Merienne says her book, Tough…Tough Times…Tough Decisions, can ease and help people through this difficult time; as she has travelled this road with a parent recently.

Rita says that many people have had the rolls reversed on them, from their parent looking after them as children, to finding they have to look after an aging parent. How do they handle it? How does the person handle it?

There are lots of emotions rushing about, harsh words said between siblings, but more importantly changes to everyone’s life that can be hard to take. How do people cope, how do they deal with this new role?

The journey may be tough and filled with many turns, twists and pot holes, but she says "never ever forget the reason people take the journey: the welfare of a loved one”. Whilst caring for a parent many people may have taken a number of different avenues before it brought them to the aged care driveway, and are now faced with a whole different set of rules. This is where Rita believes her book can help.

The author of this book has gone through this process with her own father. She came to the realization that others must be suffering also. Her book explains clearly how to deal with a very stressful time in anyone’s life.
