Baptist Health Receives Women’s Choice Awards, Provider of Choice for Comprehensive Women’s Health Care
Jacksonville, Florida (PRWEB) January 29, 2015 -- Baptist Health hospitals are being recognized nationally for exemplary care to women in a variety of categories, including heart care, obstetrics and patient safety.
Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville, Baptist Heart Hospital and Baptist Medical Center South received the 2015 Women’s Choice Award as America’s Best Hospitals for Heart Care, signifying Baptist Health’s commitment to meeting the highest standards in heart care. The America’s Best Hospitals for Heart Care scoring process is unique in that it is the only national list that focuses on female patient satisfaction. Only hospitals that perform well clinically with regard to heart care measures, and also have a high recommendation rate, a measure that is important to women in choosing a hospital, are selected. The award is also determined by identifying hospitals that offer a substantial number of cardiac and/or vascular services.
Baptist Heart Hospital at Baptist Jacksonville is the area’s only freestanding hospital for heart and vascular care.
Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville, Baptist Medical Center South and Baptist Medical Center Beaches also received the 2015 Women’s Choice Award as an America’s Best Hospitals for Obstetrics. Winners represent hospitals that women can feel confident in choosing for their maternity needs. Hospitals who qualify for this highly selective designation provide the highest level of obstetric services based on their exceptional scores for patient recommendation, as provided by data reported by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) surveys, as well as analysis that weighs criteria identified as the most important to women for patient satisfaction, including early elective deliveries.
“We’re pleased to be recognized for our commitment to women and being the preferred provider of comprehensive women’s health care at every stage of life,” said Baptist Health President and CEO Hugh Greene.
Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville, Baptist Medical Center South, Baptist Heart Hospital and Wolfson Children’s Hospital were also honored by Women’s Choice Award among the 2015 America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Safety.
"Improving patient safety is not only a matter of error prevention, but it's a calculated step in spending the extra time needed to deliver quality care that saves lives,” said Delia Passi, CEO and founder of WomenCertified Inc., home to the Women’s Choice Award.
The America’s Best for Patient Safety award identifies those hospitals that have had a low incidence of problems arising from surgical errors and infections.
“Patient safety is at the forefront of everything we do,” said John Wilbanks, Baptist Health executive vice president and chief operating officer. “We are focused on all aspects of infection prevention and safety not only for our patients and their families, but for our team members as well.”
Baptist Health recently implemented new uniforms and patient garments made of protective Vestex® technology that helps in fighting infections. Some other safety programs have included a new barcoding process implemented system wide that ensures patients receive the right medication and right dose by the right route and at the right time. A Transfer and Lift with Care program started in 2007 has also significantly reduced patient-handling injuries by 81 percent.
The Women’s Choice Award sets the standard for helping women make smarter choices for themselves and their families. The company and its awards identify the brands, products and services that are most recommended and trusted by women. The Women’s Choice Award is the only evidence-based quality designation that drives consumer and patient appreciation through education, empowerment and validation.
