Where Do Travelers Want To Go In 2015? Fodor’s Travel Reveals the Most Popular Destinations and Emerging Hotspots
New York, NY (PRWEB) February 02, 2015 -- Fodor’s Travel, the leading name in travel guides for more than 75 years, today released data around visitors’ most common queries on the heavily trafficked Fodors.com, which set a record in 2014, garnering 20 million page views in a single month. For the second year in a row, the Fodor’s web team analyzed destination-guide page views to measure the most popular classic destinations as well as those up-and-coming locations that saw the biggest increase in interest from travelers.
“Our editorial team is constantly monitoring destination trends, to ensure that the content we publish stays relevant as travelers’ tastes change,” said Arabella Bowen, Editor in Chief of Fodor’s Travel. “Analyzing visitors’ searches allows us to see where travelers intend to visit, giving us insight into what destinations are hot right now.”
The 2014 data heralded some confirmations and surprises: Paris remained the top overall destination for Fodor’s travelers (a trend expected to continue; it was recommended on Fodor’s Go List of must-see places to visit in 2015). Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast saw an incredible surge in interest from travelers last year, making it the top international destination on the rise. In response to this growing popularity, Fodor’s will now publish its first standalone guide – Fodor’s Croatia will be released in March 2015.
Newport, Rhode Island saw the biggest increase in page views year over year, making it the top United States destination on the rise. However, the Pacific Northwest stole the show with three out of the four top spots (Washington State’s Olympic Peninsula and Washington Coast; Spokane and Eastern Washington; and the Oregon Coast).
