ConAgra Foods Drives HR Transformation With Big Data Analytics, New Study Shows
VANCOUVER, BC and SAN JOSE, CA (PRWEB) February 02, 2015 -- Visier, the innovation leader in Workforce Intelligence, today announced the findings of a new Bersin by Deloitte, Deloitte Consulting LLP case study, which reveals how Fortune 250 company ConAgra Foods is using analytics-driven workforce planning to gain a full view of total workforce costs. Entitled, “Continuous, Cost-Driven Workforce Planning: ConAgra Foods Transforms the Role of HR through Analytics,” the study looks at how the company’s acquisition of a private label business spurred the food maker to adopt Visier’s Workforce Intelligence Solutions. “With Visier’s solutions for workforce analytics and planning we are able to look across our organization in ways that were not possible before, and increasingly enable HR practitioners and business leaders to make workforce decisions based on hard data,” explains Tim Sasek, Manager, People Insights, ConAgra Foods. “We have also been able to broaden the focus of HR beyond people performance and basic HR metrics to include people costs. We have transformed workforce planning from an annual, headcount-focused process into a continuous, cost-focused process that is founded in analytics, based on a broader view of workforce costs.”
After ConAgra Foods announced its intent to acquire a private label in 2012, which would increase the size of its workforce by more than 40 percent, the company’s People Insights team sought a new way to calculate the total cost of its workforce and perform workforce planning: At that time, information was spread across the organization in siloed systems within various departments and was often difficult to aggregate and reconcile. The People Insights team had many goals, including:
--Providing a broad base of HR, finance, and other users with easy access to workforce analytics
--Optimizing personnel cost planning, forecasting, and analysis with leading technology and processes
--Creating real-time visibility for all personnel related costs
To address these areas, ConAgra Foods partnered with Visier to aggregate all of the company’s data from multiple systems. The Visier solution provided a self-service analytics resource for HR, finance and operations and other parties to not only glean insights about its workforce, but enable a new paradigm of continuous, data-driven workforce planning focused more on workforce costs and less about total headcount.
“Such self-service analytics solutions enable large organizations to gain real-time insights into employee data, and provide views into their workforces across a wide range of subject areas,” said Karen O’Leonard, VP, Benchmarking and Analytics Research, Bersin by Deloitte, Deloitte Consulting.
“We are enabling HR -- for the first time -- to input an accurate and complete picture of current and future workforce headcount and costs into the Enterprise Resource Planning process. This is a critical capability to support HR playing a stronger leadership role in the business,” says John Schwarz, CEO and Founder, Visier.
