The 26th Annual Sandestin Gumbo Festival will hold their kick-off weekend event on Friday, February 13th, at 2:00pm, with a seafood boil at the Marina Bar & Grill. The main event takes place on Saturday at 12:00pm. All attendees will have the opportunity to taste and vote for their favorite Gumbo. A variety will be served with ingredients including chicken, sausage, and/or seafood. A panel of celebrity judges will name the “Area’s Best,” and award the most creative set-up.
The Mardi Gras Music Festival at Pier Park will take place on Friday the 13th at 4:00pm with a Float tour and activities for kids. Live entertainment and a Mardi Gras parade will follow, along with fireworks at the end of the evening. On Saturday the 14th at 8:00am, there will be a 5K walk or run at Frank Brown Park, followed by a Costume Contest and Parade catering to kids. The headline entertainment will be Aaron Neville performing at the Aaron Bessant Park Amphitheater at 1:30pm, followed by an adult Costume Contest and Mardi Gras Parade. Pier Park is located in Panama City Beach within 23 miles of Seagrove Beach.
On Sunday, February 15th, The Village of Baytowne Wharf will hold a Mardi Gras Dog Parade at 2:00pm. Dogs in costumes along with their owners can be present and apart of this annual Mardi Gras Parade. Also on Sunday, Seaside will present the 8th Annual Krewe of Wee-De-Leis Children’s Parade from 12:00pm to 2:00pm, as well as a special Mardi Gras Concert beginning at 2:30pm. Children will have the opportunity to create their own masks as well as other crafts, while parents can enjoy live music.
February 17th is the official date for Fat Tuesday 2015. The Village of Baytowne Wharf will present the 13th Annual Fat Tuesday Baytowne Bash Parade on that day, beginning at 5:00pm. A line of decorated floats, golf carts, and pick-up trucks will parade down the streets, as well as marchers dressed up in Mardi Gras costumes tossing beads and moon pies. Street performers and live entertainment will continue throughout the evening.
