Financial Advisor Pat Vitucci Suggests That Retirement Today Is Not Like Retirement Years Ago
Walnut Creek, Ca (PRWEB) February 02, 2015 -- Pat Vitucci, a Bay Area Independent Financial Advisor, suggests that retirement these days does not mean the same thing for everyone and that the concept is different from years ago. The retirement age of 65 and 66 just doesn't mean much in today's world.
"I remember when the rules were..you retired at age 65, went on a cruise and bought a cadillac at 66 and died at 67, " said Vitucci. "Those were the rules and eyeryone followed them. Well, not literally, but you get the idea."
"For openers, 65 is now just a number and may or may not be relevant for everyone. In many cases, 75 may be the new 65. More people now work, even if it is part time, into their 70s and beyond, " continued Vitucci.
"Some people will have a lot to do after they retire, like playing golf, volunteering for things, baby sitting for grand kids and other things. Others may wake up in the morning and wonder what they will do all day long. How much money that is needed will depend upon whether people like to travel a lot or stay at home. And, of course the big issue nowadays is that people live much longer than in years past."
Pat Vitucci hosts "YOUR FINANCIAL LIFE" , an hour long radio program heard throughout the Bay Area on Saturdays, 8-9am on KKSF Talk 910 in San Francisco, KSRO 1350AM in Santa Rosa and KDOW 1220AM in Fremont. The program is also heard on Mondays at 6PM on KDOW.
