Southern University at Shreveport, Louisiana Enlists Unicon to Implement Student Success Plan (SSP)
Gilbert, AZ (PRWEB) February 02, 2015 -- Unicon, Inc., a leading IT consulting, services, and support provider specializing in open source for the education technology market, today announced that it will implement Student Success Plan (SSP) at Southern University at Shreveport, Louisiana (SUSLA) for coaches, counselors, and advisors to guide their students with case management technology. Unicon will provide IT consulting services, including implementation planning, systems integration, training, and support. SSP, case management technology, helps institutions achieve student success by providing a holistic coaching and counseling model for integrated planning and advising services (IPAS). At SUSLA, Unicon will integrate the institution’s student information system (SIS) and learning management system (LMS) with SSP, making it possible to populate student data from the SIS and academic data from the LMS into SSP. Unicon will also provide training to coaches, counselors, and advisors, ensuring they are well equipped to use the software and promote student success.
“We are excited to find that the features and tools of SSP provide us with the freedom to incorporate and the ability to enhance our customized student support services without affecting its system integrity, capability, or functionality,” said Major Brock, Executive Director of Student Success Center (CSS) and QEP, SUSLA. “Designing a first-year experience that teaches students to successfully navigate an appropriate field of study to attain their academic and vocational goals is CSS’ overall goal.”
SSP is designed to improve retention, academic performance, persistence, graduation rates, and time to degree. SSP features tools for early alerts, education planning and monitoring, counseling and interventions, journaling and action plans, and student self-help. SSP can be used with any targeted population of students, such as at-risk students or athletes. SSP is open source software, which allows SCC and other institutions to customize the system as needed.
Unicon will support SSP for SUSLA through its Open Source Support program. The program is a flexible, customizable open source support service with direct access to a dedicated team of developers, consultants, and system administrators. This unique, innovative support model grants access to expert support resources for any type of issue encountered. All support cases are handled directly by experts from the start. Unicon’s Open Source Support program offers enterprise-level support at various SLAs to meet the needs of deployments. In addition to SSP, the program currently provides support for Central Authentication Service (CAS), Drupal, Grouper, Sakai, Shibboleth, uMobile, and uPortal.
